QW: Lismore Alliance doesn’t speak for me

Daniel, Lismore

Re: CSIRO report provides roadmap for flood resilience

As a long-term business owner and operator in Lismore, I can confirm there is as much diversity of opinions within the Northern Rivers “business community” as there is outside the ‘business community”. The Lismore Alliance does not speak for me or my business, primarily because I have the common gumption to take into account the nature of a flood plan, before, during and after I make my business decisions. I also happen to subscribe to the idea that a business investment decision should assume the private enterprise risks associated with that investment and not come to the community cap-in-hand, expecting my tax dollars to compensate private enterprise. It’s a deep insult on many levels.
