Your very apologetic stories on Alison Penfolds hateful gender bill are infuriating on multiple fronts.
It’s bad enough that you didn’t challenge her on her ‘have your cake and eat it to’ act of saying “sex is binary!” clearly to keep her mate Kiralee happy, but intersex is still a thing.
But if she’s busy working on so many other things then why is this all we hear about?
I, like most people I’d imagine, have far bigger things to worry about then whether the terms male and female are defined in a piece of legislation.
And even if this crap bill did pass, it would not have changed the Giggle v Tickle outcome. It didn’t matter what gender Roxanne Tickle was, she was discriminated against on the basis of gender. This is not something that will be fixed by saying ‘all women are equal but some are more equal that others’.
No one is taking your rights away. There aren’t former men in dresses trying to get jobs in boarding houses or come into your bathroom. The likes of Roxanne Tickle – who have literally had their penis cut off – aren’t coming to rape you.
The tiny, tiny number of people who are trans are nothing to fear. They’re different, not scary.
The rest of us have got over it. Be nice if Penfold and friends joined us in this century, and got over it too.
